No Comments Someone wrote this on my college yearbook;
“… is a hopeless romantic. He sees through everything and composes verses in his mind. He talks about the great passions and immersed in them. He is a poet mincing words, evoking feelings, hiding himself…”
A hopeless romantic? It was not because there was an object of beauty that I desired, but because I believe in the ideals of perfect love. Along with it is the perfect timing, the perfect person, at the perfect place. So I just kept to myself the identity of my crushes and made understatements in uttering my admiration.
When asked the question: When are you going to have a girlfriend? My usual reply: In the right time. But at the back of my head, I feared that the right time had already happened, and I let it slip away. I don’t want to undergo the pain of rejection, or being forced to love someone who first loved me. So I waited.
Someone said that one of the mistakes of young men is that they I idolized love too much. Perhaps, there is some truth to it.
Then the right time came, and the right person suddenly appeared in my life. From friends to lovers, we became. I learned that perfect love is when you accept the imperfection, and love him or her just the same. The perfect timing happens every time you show love and care.

No Comments OH, when I was in love with you,
Then I was clean and brave,
And miles around the wonder grew
How well did I behave.
And now the fancy passes by,
And nothing will remain,
And miles around they ’ll say that I
Am quite myself again.
XVIII. Oh, when I was in love with you
Alfred Edward Housman (1859–1936). from A Shropshire Lad. 1896.
——————————————————–
I remembered a classmate back in high school who was courting one of the prettiest girls in our 2nd year class. We were amazed at how behaved he was. We all knew he’s one of the class jesters. But this time, he was dead serious. Gone are the usual jokes. He said he wanted to look his best to impress the girl.
We just played along and let him do his stuff. But it’s kind of weird not seeing him laughing and making jokes here and there. His grooming improved. His curly hair seemed to be in a good place. His moves were carefully done. He looked like a real gentleman with the girl.
A few weeks passed and he was no longer with her. He arrived to class late and with uncombed hair. We asked him what happened. “We broke up” he curtly said. “I don’t want to talk about it”.
And so be it. We were glad he was back to his normal self again. His sense of humor returned to him, and we again enjoyed his company. But I haven’t heard anything about his love life after that, even years after we graduated from high school.

No Comments 1. Don’t turn your back to love when it’s already in front of you. Don’t drive it away from you, because if you do, someday, you’ll think again, why you let love flew when it was there next to you.
2. In Love, think things first over if you’re sure about how you feel. Don’t fall too hard not knowing where you will stand, ‘coz it will hurt real bad if things don’t go the way you want them to be.
3. It’s an irony to know that it takes hours for someone to have guts to say “hi” to the one he likes, days to admire, weeks to miss the person, months to love, but just a blink of an eye to say goodbye…
4. Go for the person who loves you. It is not wrong to love someone who belongs to someone else, but it is much better to love someone who could also love you in return.
5. Love isn’t something we hold, it is something we set free. It’s not something we just do, but it’s something we don’t imagine to be. Lastly, it’s not something we choose, it chooses us…
6. The scariest thing about falling in love is getting hurt. The scariest thing about getting hurt is not being able to love again. The scariest thing about not loving again is being alone forever.
7. When you follow your heart, worry not where it will lead you, for your heart knows the way. And if you do get lost or reach a dead end, use your head to lead you back home.
8. When you truly care for someone, you don’t look for faults, you don’t look for answers, you don’t look for mistakes. Instead, you fight for the mistakes, you accept the faults, and you overlook excuses.
9. It’s better to lose your pride to the one you love, than lose your loved one to your useless pride.
10. Love is …… not “it’s your fault”, but “I’m sorry”, not “where are you?”, but “I’m here”, not “how could you?”, but “I understand”, not “I wish you were here”, but “I’m thankfulyou are”.
11. The beginning of love is to let those we love be just they, and not twist with our own image. Otherwise, we love only the reflection of ourselves we find in them.
12. If a relationship is truly meant for you, your love will find a way to make it happen, and God will be there to make sure it will stay.

No Comments We heard stories of friends becoming lovers, and lovers turning “just friends”. We also heard stories of broken circles of friends because one started courting another from the group. Some were even labeled as opportunist, someone taking advantage of the friendship. And there are happy stories with happy endings. But there are also sad tales of relationships gone awry.
A had college friend which is very friendly and popular. He had many female friends. He was courting a few of them secretly and some openly but ended up rejected every time. We heard the ladies say “We’re better off as friends”. He simply shrugged off his failed conquest. “Yeah, they’re better off as friends”, we agreed.
My friend and this girl became close friends as they were seatmates in many subjects at school. He had a girlfriend back in his province, while she also had a boyfriend somewhere else. Classmates would tease them. They simply said that they’re “just friends and probably soulmates”. A couple of years after, he broke off with his girl back in the province and started courting his friend. It was not difficult for her to say no. But then, it did not end happily. She dumped him (we found out years later) after she found out he impregnated a girl from their place.
An inspired look can be seen on my friends eyes. He was often found conversing with a female friend in the library. She looked happy, too. Classmates would often tease them, but both would just let out a smile. “In the right time” they both say. But he was hesitant and afraid of rejection, and the possibility of losing the sweetness of their conversation as friends. There never was a chance again after they separated ways after college.
Remembering a girl, I heard her say in the past that she’d turn down any friend that will court her. I even discouraged one friend, because he’d been turned down many times already. I just didn’t know then, that one day, it would be me courting her.
Do you believe in the saying that ‘friendship is love without its wings’ and so the conversation revolved around that for many minutes. At the back of my mind, I said “I am staking our friendship here for something of a higher aim. The end should be nothing short of love, and not just for ordinary friendship”. Such determination overcame my fear. The last words I said;
“Why don’t we add wings to our friendship?”
So the LOVE will get through…

No Comments Thoughts about Love
“Loving, knowing that you are going to get hurt, is like living, knowing that you are going to die. But not loving, so you won’t get hurt, is like killing yourself before you die.”
“Unspoken love is like a poison. If you don’t spit it out, it’ll eat you up inside.”
“Don’t wait for the right one to come, rather be the right one for someone.”
“When you fall in love, don’t give everything without leaving something for yourself. Someday, somehow, it would be too late for you to realize that you’ve given all for the wrong one without saving something for the right one.”
“Never expect love to be always at its best coz if you do, you’ll never appreciate its existence. Remember that there will always be one true love for you to have and hold. It might not be the one you expect, but its the one you deserve.”
Love that melts the heart
“Minsan, iniisip ko na wag nalang magmahal para hindi na ako masaktan ulit, pero di ko yata kakayanin… kasi makita palang kitang nakangiti — handa na akong masaktang muli”
“If one star will fall everytime i miss you, the sky would be empty by now. So if ever there’ll be no more stars tonight, it’s all your fault… you make me mish you so much.”
Mahal kita, masaktan man ako.”
Love that hurts
“sa pag-ibig, may gago at tanga. Gago ka kapag nagmahal ka nang di nya alam. Tanga ka kung di mo alam na may nagmamahal sa yo. Oo, alam kong gago ako… pero sana… wag kang maging tanga!”
“masakit saktan ang minamahal lalo na kung di mo sinasadya… gustuhin mo mang ituwid ang lahat ng pagkakamali mo, tsaka mo lang malalaman na huli na pala… Naitama na ng iba.”
“The meaning of love is so unexplainable! Can’t be described similarly by everyone. But one thing is for sure… Love begins with ‘friends lang kami’ and ends with ‘friends na lang kami’…”
“pag aalis ka, sama ako ha? Yoko kasing mapalayo sayo. Pero kung pupunta ka na sa talagang mahal mo, di na ako sasama. Pero promise, ihahatid kita, kahit sa pagbalik ko, hindi na kita kasama…”
“Alam ko na mahal kita, pero ayaw kong aminin. Di naman sa kinahihiya kita, di rin dahil takot ako. Ang akin lang, di mo na dapat pang malaman pa kung di mo lang rin kayang suklian.”

No Comments The purpose of my life is always about one true thing: LOVE! A place of Love is where I came from, where I am now, and where I will return. I remain always in Love. Coming into this embodiment, I have had many teachings to learn and many things to do. Love is the essence of all the teachings and all the doing. Love is the only thing going on in my life. Love connects me with the Divine, my friends, my family, my beloved, all sentient beings, and myself. Only when I focus on this purpose, to Love, does my Heart sing with joy!
The purpose of my life is to Love, to be a spiritual being in human form, so that I understand death is a transformation; life is eternal. I know I can travel in the light, dance with the energy, breathe God’s breath, and Love who I truly am.
The purpose of my life is to Love being in the form of the human body so I can feel what I feel: desperation and hope, sorrow and bliss, suffering and peace, separation and wholeness. Any painful experience only makes me Love myself and others more deeply.
The purpose of my life is to Love all the people passing through my life, those I know and those I do not. A warm glance, a simple greeting, I send Love from my Heart to their Hearts. I am always being lovingly present, no matter what it looks like out there or inside myself.
The purpose of my life is to Love my spiritual family and my friends. I give unceasing thanks to all the friends in my life. Falling in Love with each one, creating a pure, healthy relationship, I realize who they truly are as the Divine.
The purpose of my life is to Love my work. I remember what I came here to do: to Love. I simply hold a loving space for people to go through whatever their Soul agreed to do, inspiring them to remember their true selves and their life purpose.
The purpose of my life is to Love my birth family, to support them however I can so as to make their life easier and give them the opportunity to feel being Loved. I accept them fully for who they were and who they are. Not trying to change anything about them, just to Loving them unconditionally.
The purpose of my life is to Love my beloved, not only his light, but also his shadow. I hear his moans, as well as his laughter. I am drawn to his Divinity and his humanity. I accept him as whole. I give him the space and the freedom he needs for his spiritual growth. I understand he belongs to his Soul and his Soul belongs to the Divine.
The purpose of my life is to be Loved by the Divine, my Soul, my friends, my family, and my beloved. I receive Love from them gratefully and graciously. I am bathed in tears of joy from this overwhelming Love.
Because of Love, I am willing to take full responsibility for my life and all that I create. Because I Love myself, I can be truthful with myself and others. Because I live Consciously, I feel free. Grounded in these qualities, I live a peaceful and joy-filled life with only one purpose: to Love and to be loved.

No Comments Love is the word that makes one go into dreams of bliss and the word that can take one into pain. It all depends, how your love turned out. If you were stabbed in the back, pain will be the result and if you got loyalty, it will be pleasure. When one looks at the scenes of destruction of one’s love, when one revisits the places where love had blossomed, below the flowering trees, one goes in to the memories of the lost love. It hurts and it hurts very badly. Similarly the love that enriches us can be invaluable. It gives a new breath, a new life. Love can give life and when lost, life may be lost. Call it addiction to love or whatever, love is a feeling that cannot be described in words. it has to be felt.
We hear about many break-ups and separations. What happened to the love that brought the couple together in the beginning? How can ex lovers talk of revenge? In love, there is no revenge. If your beloved stabs you in the back, you will not ask for revenge, because you loved and you still love. As I have yet to talk to someone who stabbed the beloved, I don’t know about his or her thinking, but it must be that of – how could I do this? Or may be they are so evil that they applaud themselves for their backstabbing!
Love is sublime. Love gives power. Love gives determination. In love, many lovers do what they could never dream of. Empires have been sacrificed for love. Battles have been fought for love. Love has ruled mankind since ages. Those who experience love are truly lucky.

No Comments *January 2*
Do you still remember the first time we met? It was the first day in school. I was hurriedly entering the school gate when I bumped into you as you stepped out of a luxurious Volvo. The books you were holding fell all over the ground. I quickly picked up the books and returned them to you along with words of apology, but all you showed me was your intimidating look. My first impression of you was thatyou were a wilful girl born with a golden sthingy in the mouth. I had rejected you completely and had hoped not to meet you again, but surprisingly you turned out to be my classmate.
*March 22*
I started to know more about you as days passed and my opinion of you changed for the better on each passing day. I realised that you were from a wealthy family but definitely not a wilful girl. You were nice and friendly. You got angry that day we first met because I had left a footprint marking on the poetry collection you loved dearly. We met often during lunch break and I found something in you that was different from the rest of the girls – your passion for Chinese poetry. Often you would mumble something to yourself. Initially, I thought that you were humming a pop song but
later I realised that you had been reciting Chinese poems from great poets. You were so knowledgeable that you knew every poet and which poems they composed. I was very impressed indeed.
*April 5*
I met you again in the study area. That day you were reading the Chinese classics “Romance of the 3 kingdom”. Your ability to appreciate Chinese classics left me with admiration. You were indeed unique in many ways.
*May 5*
From then on, we would often meet in the study area to discuss about the good and bad things of the character in these Chinese classics. Do you still remember the time when we a! lmost br oke off because we could not agree on whether Jia BaoYu hurt Lin Dai Yu? Our argument was so fierce that we never talked for that week. But when Friday came, we still met in the study area and laughed over the incident. After which, another argument started.
*Aug 7*
I could not deny it. It was a feeling I could not identify accurately. Wenever you laughed over a joke with other guys, that emotion filled my senses. It took me a while before identified it. I was in love; the feeling was jealousy. I felt the need to express it. But, I was afraid…that you would dismiss my feeling, that you and I would be stuck in an embarrassing situation, that our long nurtured friendship would crumble…therefore, I kept quiet.
*Oct 1*
The news came as a shock to me. I was so worried when I learnt that you had fainted in the canteen. I was struggling to keep my worried face in control as I looked at the ambulance that carried you away.
*Oct 2*
It was drizzling that day. Our form teacher sadly announced that you had got cancer. As she finished her last sentence, outside the classroom, it seemed to me that the drizzle had turned into a downpour. I could only hear the sound of the rain, nothing more. I rushed to NUH ICU to see you immediately after lesson. Your face was whitish in colour, showing no trace of red. I learnt that you had just undergone an operation. The life-support system was just beside you with tubes piercing mercilessly into your left wrist. “I am all right, it is just a serious case of anemia. Believe me, my parents told me that”. you said convincingly. I knew fully well what you were thinking, you did not want me to be worried. “Are you comforting yourself or comforting the fears and hopelessness that was written all over my face?”, I thought to myself. I was not strong enough to disagree with you and I nodded my head with a forced smile. You responded with a smile too-with gre! at effor t.
*Oct 5*
It was a ordinary day but to me, it was an important day. I felt an impulse to express my love. I walked over to the side of your bed, holding your hand. I told you the story of how an ordinary guy fell in love with a girl who likes poetry and Chinese classics. As I told my story, my eyes started to flood with water, and uncontrollably my voice started to choke, and finally I broke into tear But you held my head against your body and with watery eyes, said: “I understand such a love, so did the girl.” I returned my eyes to her and at that moment, her tears dropped, and for the first time, I saw some redness on her lips.
*Oct 26*
It was the last day of examination and I rushed to NUH to continue my story. When I reached there, I only saw the nurse arranging the bed you once slept on. When I asked about you, the nurse told me expressionlessly that you had passed away. It was a bolt from the blue for me. I stood motionless for a long time. I hated myself for spending the last few days preparing for the last examination paper. I hated myself for not staying longer the last time I visited you. I hated myself so much…but you were gone…… I can’t remember how I got home that day. When I woke up, I was already in my room. The pillow I slept on was wet. The next day, I went for the funeral. I heard from your father that on the day you passed away, you were still reading the Poetry collection I gave you as a gift for your birthday. Standing in front of Your portrait, I had no tears, they were used up on the day of your death. All I knew was sadness, my heart was like shattered into pieces and died.
*Jan 2*
A new girl has taken over your seat. She does not like poetry, but she likes to hum pop songs. When I asked her if she knows Jia Bao Yu, she replied: “What talking you.” Yes, you were gone. But to me, the seat is still unoccupied, and maybe no one will ever occupy it……

All About Love, Short Stories
No Comments A good reminder: “Take time to appreciate what you have now.”
On the last day before Christmas, I hurried to go to the supermarket to buy the
remaining of the gift I didn’t manage to buy earlier.
When I saw all the people there, I started to complain tomyself,”It is going to take forever here and I still have so many other places to go.
Christmas really is getting more and more annoying every year. How I wish I could just lie down, go to sleep and only wake up after it…”
Nonetheless, I made my way to the toy section, and there I started to curse the prices, wondering if after all kids really pla ywith such expensive toys.
While looking in the toy section, I noticed a small boy of about 5 years old, pressing a doll against his chest. He kept on touching the hair of the doll and looked so sad. I wondered who was this doll for. Then the little boy turned to the old woman next to him, “Granny, are you sure I don’t have enough money?”
The old lady replied, “You know that you don’t have enough money to buy this doll, my dear.”
Then she asked him to stay here for 5 minutes while she went to look around. She left quickly. The little boy was still holding the doll in his hand.
Finally, I started to walk toward him and I asked him who did he want to give this doll to.
“It is the doll that my sister loved most and wanted so much for this Christmas. She was so sure that Santa Claus would bring it to her.”
I replied to him that may be Santa Claus will bring it to her, after all, and not to worry. But he replied to me sadly.
“No, Santa Claus can not bring it to her where she is now. I have to give the doll to my mother so that she can give it to her when she goes there.”
His eyes were so sad while saying this.
“My sister has gone to be with God. Daddy says that mommy will also go to see God very soon, so I thought that she could bring the doll with her to give it to my sister.”
My heart nearly stopped. The little boy looked up at me and said, “I told daddy to tell mommy not to go yet. I asked him to wait until I come back from the supermarket.”
Then he showed me a very nice photo of him where he was laughing. He then told me, “I also want mommy to take this photo with her so that she will not forget me.”
I love my mommy and I wish she doesn’t have to leave me but daddy says that she has to go to be with my little sister.”
Then he looked again at the doll with sad eyes, very quietly.I quickly reached
for my wallet and took a few notes and said to the boy, “What if we checked
again, just in case if you have enough money?”
“Ok,” he said. “I hope that I have enough.”
I added some of my money to his without him seeing and we started to count it.
There was enough for the doll, and even some spare money.
The little boy said, “Thank you God for giving me enough money.”
Then he looked at me and added,
“I asked yesterday before I slept for God to
make sure I have enough money to buy this doll so that mommy can give it to my sister. He heard me.”
“I also wanted to have enough money to buy a white rose for my mommy, but I didn’t dare to ask God too much. But He gave me enough to buy the doll and the white rose.”
“You know, my mommy loves white rose.”
A few minutes later, the old lady came again and I left with my trolley. I
finished my shopping in a totally
different state from when I started. I couldn’t get the little boy out of my
mind.
Then I remembered a local newspaper article 2 days ago, which mentioned of a drunk man in a truck who hit a car where there was one young lady and a little girl. The little girl died right away, and the mother was left in a critical state. The family had to decide whether to pull the plug on the life-assisting machine, because the young lady would not be able to get out of the coma.
Was this the family of the little boy?
Two days after this encounter with the little boy, I read in the newspaper that the young lady had passed away.I couldn’t stop myself and went to buy a bunch of white roses and I went to the mortuary where the body of the young woman was exposed for people to see and make last wish before burial.
She was there, in her coffin, holding a beautiful white rosein her hand with the photo of the little boy and the doll placed over her chest. I left the place crying, feeling that my life had been changed forever. The love that this little boy had for his mother and his sister is still, to that day, hard to imagine. And in a fraction of a second, a drunk man had taken all this away from him.

No Comments It really makes us wonder why the people we like only as friends are the ones who show interest in us and those we like treat us only as friends.
Why can’t we just like somebody who will also feel the same way for us?
It doesn’t always happen that way and that is the reason why people who fall in love get hurt.
They allow themselves to get emotionally attached to a person and they begin to expect that they will be treated differently from the others.
But more often than not, we are attracted to a person who probably wants to have us only as a friend, and nothing more.
There’s nothing wrong with this, but it is sometimes hard to interpret the meaning of one’s actions.
The problem lies with the fact that we have special feelings for that person, and most of the time we put so much meaning in the way they treat us, when the truth is we are just friends.
We go one step ahead of the real relationship, and begin to expect something to come out. Then, we disappoint ourselves when we realize that there were no special feelings all along.
It was simply a beautiful story of friendship.
The truth hurts but it is the only thing that can set us free.
If your friendship means a lot to you, then you just have to accept the fact that you cannot feel otherwise for them.
You have to treat them only as friends and nothing more.
There’s anything wrong in telling them how you really feel, but don’t expect anything in return and don’t make them feel obliged to acknowledge it.
Just let them know so you can finally be at peace with yourself. Let us always remember that every tear of sadness that we shed for a person we love is a capsule of memory that we have to leave behind.
We fall in love so that we will learn, we get hurt so that we will become strong, and we cry so that we can let go and find our place in the life of someone who will love us the way we have loved.
